Re: PC can't sleep with MBox2 USB plugged in, why?

well, I guess I wasn't looking for moral judgement, I was looking for technical advice.

Re: PC can't sleep with MBox2 USB plugged in, why?

what if I want it the PC to go to sleep? Even if I have shut down PT I can't get the PC to go to sleep until I unplug the USB from the MBox2. I'd prefer not to have to unplug the USB every time.

PC can't sleep with MBox2 USB plugged in, why?

Anyone know why I can't get my PC to "standyby/sleep" with the MBox2 USB cable plugged in? I have to unplug the USB cable from the back of the MBox2.

Re: Export to Finale? (not Sibelius)

Brilliant. Thanks. I was able to figure it out...either exporting the whole file to MIDI, or just a track into Finale.

Export to Finale? (not Sibelius)

Hi, anyone know how to export to Finale? When I open Score Editor, it only has an export command to Sibelius. I'm hoping there is a workaround, or I can remap the Sibelius command to Finale.

Re: "Normal" compression for vocals on pop or rock song?

I think "Tom@Metro" makes good points, especially around "methodical music production" and it comes down to "you." However, I usually read about successful producers who seem to have a "bag of...

Re: "Normal" compression for vocals on pop or rock song?

Interesting, I hadn't thought of the radio station limiters. Regarding the next post, I can think of plenty of pop/rock stars who don't have good voices nor chops to work the mic, so I'm thinking...

Re: "Normal" compression for vocals on pop or rock song?

Thanks for the tips. The reason I asked was I was wondering what the pros do, as a general rule, to get a "radio" sound, to get the vocal to "leap out" of the mix. I'm trying to figure out how to...

"Normal" compression for vocals on pop or rock song?

Hi, excuse the ignorance, but does any know what the "normal" compression would be on lead vocals on a pop or rock song? I realize it could be a range, but I assume there is a sweet spot for male...

Re: Glyph or Seagate hard drive with PTv8?

Yes, ejwells, your observation about the Glyph being a rebranded Seagate was my concern as well, at quite a higher price point. Now, maybe you know this...Pro Tools says get a hard drive with a...

Re: PT Method One instructional DVD won't play

Brilliant. And DUH of my part...was sitting in my home studio, trying to figure this out on the PC, the obvious solution of putting in my DVD player for the TV didn't bubble up... Thanks again.

Re: Glyph or Seagate hard drive with PTv8?

I would get an internal SATA drive just to hold my session and audio data. right now, I just have the 1 internal c:drive. I don't anticipate travelling anywhere with the hard drive, it would just...

PT Method One instructional DVD won't play

Hi, the "Method One" instructional DVD that came with Mbox2/PTv8 won't play. I have a DVD drive, so that's not it. It says the the "video decoder malfunctioned or is not installed." I tried the...

Glyph or Seagate hard drive with PTv8?

Anyone with a recommendation on Glyph vs. Seagate internal SATA hard drives on PTv8? Glyph gets a lot of good marks, but it seems like I see Seagate drives called "Glyph Seagate Barracuda" and it...

Does wireless cause errors?

Just curious, does anyone else have errors in PTv8 if their wireless is enabled? Or, in other words, does anyone know for sure that wireless being enabled causes errors?

thanks,

Mike

Re: Need some help please

thanks again. I too have NVIDIA, a GeForce 7300 with turbocache. PT support itself didn't say anything about that, but I may just have every single incompatible part available in my PC!

Re: Need some help please

Thanks Brian, that info on where to put PT itself and the audio files eases my mind. It seems like my next step is a 2nd drive and mov all my audio files (all 5 of them.) to the 2nd drive.

Hi all, I too just loaded PTv8 and get a lot of 6086 errors. Actually, sometimes everything runs great, other times it doesn't matter how much I change the system settings, it gives me 6086 errors. ...

ATI Radeon chipset issues?

Digidesign says the ATI Radeon chipset on my HP a1650Y has "known issues" but doesn't say what they are. Does anyone know exactly what they are? I'm trying to determine if I can live with them.
