Re: Patchbays and outboard gear
Thanks Albee!
1 - got the patchbay used, so don't know what the default settings were. Having said that, ground buss seems to work fine.
2 - I have a couple of mult db25 plugs - so will just...

Re: Drum shields for recording?
fwiw, decided not to go the shield route due to concerns about the impact on the recorded track.
Thanks to everyone who provided thoughts.

Re: Patchbays and outboard gear
Thanks for the response.
I was not familiar with TT - just did some reading, so I see the concept. I'd sure rather use 6.35 TRS vs. XLR. I was just thinking dual purpose.
It sounds like my...

Patchbays and outboard gear
I'm running PT12 with 8 recording inputs (003R) and want to incorporate some outboard gear (preamps, compressors, etc) and eliminate getting behind the desk to hook up different mic cables, etc.

Hah! That looks a lot like the shield I am considering with blankets/cushions/sound absorbers on the inside.
As far as the dampening, other than the overheads, I'm close miking the kick, snare...

Re: Drum shields for recording?
As far as the bass feel - bass shakers (ala home theater) is a cool idea, but I was referring to everyone in the band being able to hear the bass - and everyone else - but without headphones.
At...

First, thanks for the responses. Really appreciate it!

Re: Drum shields for recording?
Also, I'm aware of the limitations (this is no isolation booth, just a way to get some separation.) My plan would be to drape blankets on the inside to reduce sound reflections.

Drum shields for recording?
I'm relatively limited to a single large room - and wanting to keep everyone in the same space for an "all band" (other than vocals) tracking session.
While it seems obvious that a (plexiglass)...

I'd like to create more of a drum/rhythm track for the drummer to sync with vs. the more canned clicks in something like click II.
Is there a relatively easy way to get this done? I don't have a...

Re: Nicer Fader Caps for Euphonix/Mix Series
And I'd say big improvement for the Command 8 (no more oval slippery caps) and nice (imo) improvement (easier to touch/move in smaller, smoother increments) for the Artist series.

Re: Nicer Fader Caps for Euphonix/Mix Series
fwiw,
- You want the T-lever vs. Lever 1 for Artist series.
- And to an earlier question - these also work on the Command 8

yeah, same reason I'll be using Photoshop 6 for as long as I have an OS that will support it - even then, may keep it on an "old" machine. With Adobe, rental is the only option.

Re: 003R - input to PT on Ch1 with preamp on 0?
After re-referencing the 003 manual, I can see it starts at +15db. I was expecting it to go to 0 when I turned it all the way down.
Thanks for the quick response.

And when I turn up the input pot, it...

Re: Upgrade from PT11 ..., & subscription period QUESTIONS
Unless I've totally missed it, if you are paying the $199, all a "subscription" means is that for a period of 12 months you get any upgrades (i.e. to "13" - though 12.2 or 12.3 wouldn't cost you?)...
