Powermix & TDM switcher?

I’m still rocking Pro Tools 4. On my 4.1 installation cd there is a PT24 installer and an AMIII/Powermix installer. It also has a separate, optional extension for Powermix.

When I install the...

Pro Tools 4.3 install CD

I was going through storage and found my old CD installers and authorization diskettes for 4.01 and 4.1.1, plus some 5.1 installer CDs. I also have my 4.3 authorization diskette sitting in the studio...

Re: Still Using Sound Designer 2

I just realized that I sold all of my old Digidesign cards on Ebay :p At least, my OLD cards. Still have my PT24 and Mix cards. I wonder if a Project card combined with an old DSP Farm would work.

Re: Still Using Sound Designer 2

I have a Mix rig and I’d like to get SDII working on it but I’m not sure how well the system would handle having Mix cards and an older SDII-compatible card mixed together. I remember having either a...

Stumbled upon a rare SCSI-ish cable...

I used to have a Digidesign-branded expansion chassis (7-slot, SBS) and there was a cable for connecting the chassis to a host card that I found recently. So while finding that and looking at my old...

Re: Oldest running version of Pro Tool in the world?

I'm running Mix systems still in all rooms of my studio. Just recently I decided to sell my PTIII era stuff and 'upgrade' everything to Mix rigs. Everything runs on PowerMac 9600 machines. I'm on the...

Re: Rolling edit tool?

I also notice that auto-created regions aren't quite named the exact way as it says in the manual. Hmm... Oddness going on here. The PT6 manual seems to have corrected it.

Rolling edit tool?

I'm on an old PT5 system, sitting down with Keane's book, learning stuff. When doing a punch recording on a track the new region is overlaid on the main region. Keane talks about starting a punch...

Anyone have a copy of Soundminer for OS9?

Been looking for a copy of Soundminer that works on old OS9 systems. Let me know if you have it in your old stash :-)

Re: Transferring DA38 tapes

After a bunch of experimentation, I can confirm that the IF-88AE sources its wordclock from the TDIF port, and that the BNC output is sourced from the AES input. I'm thinking the setup I described in...

Re: Transferring DA38 tapes

After a little investigation, I'm even more confused than when I began.

I don't know how the IF-88AE gets its clock info. Rumor has it that the DA-88 doesn't send wordclock via TDIF but that the...

Re: Transferring DA38 tapes

Why is it that I wouldn't need to sync them up? I was thinking that when using two different digital machines, you need to sync them up via wordclock. Perhaps it's different for a simple transfer...

Transferring DA38 tapes

I've got an oldschool Mix system, a couple 888s, a couple DA38s and a couple Tascam IF-88AE TDIF-AES converters. There's some stuff about transferring from DA88 machines online but not much about...

Re: Worth repairing Mix/TDM cards?

Yep, they won't launch PT. These sat in a studio in Los Angeles in a chassis and haven't been run in a while.. Have no idea what could've damaged them.

Re: Worth repairing Mix/TDM cards?

I did each one of these one at a time. I'm getting Latch Control failures and other error in digitest. I have other cards that work just fine running the same tests so I don't know.

Those cards...

I'll try that and see.

Does anyone even offer to repair them these days?

Worth repairing Mix/TDM cards?

I have 7 Mix Cores/Farms that fail digitest. They were pulled from an expansion chassis and were never touched. They look brand new, but sat for about 5 years in the chassis.

I guess repairing...

Re: WTB: Digidesign-branded expansion chassis

I think I'm gonna hold out for the perfect one for me. Either a 13 or 7 slotter with te Digidesign logo, serial NB05 and lower. Thanks anyway though :-)

Re: WTB: Digidesign-branded expansion chassis

I think it's even before pci-x. The chassis has to be Digidesign-branded, have a serial number that starts with NB05 or lower, and use a flat ribbon style cable for chassis-powermac connectivity.

Re: WTB: Digidesign-branded expansion chassis

Still looking for one of these things. They seem nowhere to be found. Serial number NB05 and lower is what I need.

Re: WTB: Digidesign-branded expansion chassis

Still looking for one of these. All versions have turned out being serial numbers NB06 and higher. I need one with NB05 or lower on a 13-slot.
