Another vote for BCP! Works wonderfully in PT.

Re: Mac Mini 2018 & PT...

I went from a 2010 Mac Pro 12 core to a 2018 mini 3.2 GHz, i7, 512GB SSD and couldn't be happier. I replaced the ram which took all of 45 min. A lot of good videos online and I installed the Crucial...

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

Hi Will,

I went from a Mac Pro 12 core to a mini i7 6 core 6 months ago and couldn’t be happier. I was getting tired of the workarounds and patches, just to install the latest OS, not to mention...

Re: Will this Mac Mini do the job in my producer studio?

I have a Mac mini that you're interested in and I run large sessions, combination of VI's and audio tracks and it's been handling sessions extremely well, even better than my 12 core 2010 Mac Pro. I...

Re: 2019 iMac i9 + PT 2018 + Mojave

Thanks for the in-depth information :-) I'll probably hang on to the mini until we hear news of a Mac pro, which I'm hoping within the next few months but I'm convinced that it won't be cheap. Back...

Re: 2019 iMac i9 + PT 2018 + Mojave

Darryl, I couldn't agree more. 32GB of ram would be good, 64 would be even better. You mention 2 memory channels vs 4 in the latest 2019 iMac i9. Is there a noticeable difference in performance?...

Re: 2019 iMac i9 + PT 2018 + Mojave

rwbreck, I'm also interested in the new iMac 2019 8 Core i9.The specs are pretty impressive. I did notice from your System Details that you have 8Gb's of ram installed. If I were you I would add 32...

Re: Faderport/HUI track selection/track follow from within Pro Tools

Thanks for the tip, indeloon85. Really appreciate it and it certainly beats having to use the Previous - Next buttons or the knob on the Faderport.

Cheers!

Re: Faderport/HUI track selection/track follow from within Pro Tools

You would think something so logical would have been added to the Faderport. Controller follows Selection is a MUST HAVE for this unit.

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

Ah! Understood.

All in all, I've been extremely pleased with the mini. Plenty of power inside this little box.

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

Aren't computers, whether the mini or any other, designed to shut down to prevent frying the cpu, when over 100°c which is boiling point?

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

It isn't powered on 24/7 but it does run a good 14 hours a day and forget the 67° c... it's that temperature when Pro Tools isn't even loaded. When working in PT, Vienna Ensemble Pro, several VI's...

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

That's what I keep thinking re: heavy load on system. My previous Mac was a Mac Pro 2010, 12 core, a beast of a machine but had it for almost 10 years and it was time for a change. Sold it...

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

Thanks for your input, zion. The mini is located in an area of the room where there is plenty of ventilation so I would feel this isn’t an issue. The app I use to gauge is iStat Menus, but I also...

Re: 2018 MacMini experiment on ProTools HDX

I've had the MM for under a month now and couldn't be happier. Like everyone else here, it's super fast, really gets the job done. I've only one concern and hopefully some of you will chime in. When...

Re: Mac Pro 12 Core 2.93Ghz 32 GB Ram

Thanks for the big thumbs up and the bump, Christopher :)

I have to agree. The older Mac Pro's were (are) pretty awesome next to the Trashcans and with the upgrade (Dual SSD's/PCIe card), it's...

Re: Can I do this to a late 2012 iMac?

Thanks, VRW. Like Darryl, your advice and info is equally appreciated.

The iMac was recently given to me and there is a slight chance I may need to replace the main 7200 HD. I'm not entirely sure...

Re: Can I do this to a late 2012 iMac?

Excellent advice, Darryl. I'll check with OWC and see what I can put together but first I will split the fusion drive and see how PT performs. If all is well, I'll prolly go with 2 SSD's, PCIe &...

Re: Can I do this to a late 2012 iMac?

It may be more trouble than I want it to be but getting the iMac for free gives me the incentive to invest a little into it... if it's worth it. Taking it apart is a little risky but I'm sure I'd be...

Re: Can I do this to a late 2012 iMac?

Thanks for your input, Darryl. A little confused though. I'm going to replace the HHD with an SSD no need for the HHD. The SSD replacement will be used for the OS, Pro Tools app, and all other apps....
