I wouldn't worry about the so called heat issues. Have been running NVMe for years already and never installed the recommended heat sink.

If the previous bottleneck was insuffucient CPU power using CPU hungry plugin, then simply upgrading CPU would do the trick. If 32 GB memory is enough, upgrading it to a terabyte will do nothing.

Only difference is you can have nested folders (folder inside a folder) so if you are a real heavy user that should make things a lot easier and logical.

What's the point in PCI-e adapter card if you don't go for full speed NVMe storage? Wasn't the original question how to enhance performance :cool:

You want to get a more expensive switching type card, because 2012 Mac Pro only has PCI-express 2.0 which means you will not get full speed out of the PCIe 3.0 SSD unless your adapter card combines...
