Re: rtas error 9128 on tdm system

I had a problem for ages with -6031 errors popping up in exactly the same way under Mac OS9. It was very frustrating. No plug ins etc. I wonder if theres any kind of link.?

Re: Levels 2

Thanks to all ...US, England and Scotland.. (its all just a bunch of cobblers )

Re: LEVELS

Hi Fifty8th

As we say over here in England, its all a total load of cobblers.

Basically you should set each element of the chain to work at its optimum level, then calibrating the converters to...

Re: ProTools HD ACCEL

If you read the release, it clearly says that it will NOT be neccessary to upgrade any plug ins as the core card will remain the same.

Re: HD 96 input level question?

Is it the same on all inputs?

Does the mix sound ok on the monitors?

When you say a little hot, what do you mean? What is the 2bus reading? We need that test tone level too.

By how much are...

Re: HD 96 input level question?

Hi Todd

I must say I'm surprised. I would think it would be the reverse. I would start by checking the calibration. There are some instructions in the interface manual I believe. Find out exactly...

Re: I know it is boring but this is good news...

Yeah I also had a remarkably painless transition. PT6 is very good. The new features, while mostly small changes make a big difference, and it seems very stable for me at any rate.

Re: 192 I/O: Calibration not working?

Surely its only a problem if you are looking to calibrate at -14. Are you?

I wanted to initially but when I found out that I couldnt, I just stuck at -18. I've been more than happy with that.

Re: Have you read Nika\'s new paper?

Hang about...

There's nothing wrong with 'digital' per se. The problem is that we are all obsessed with making cds louder. Using analog gear doesnt make that easier. The track still has to come...

Re: 192 I/O: Calibration not working?

I tried to go for -14 at one point. One or two channels just wont go that far. -15 is the best you're likely to get.

I also found the calibration experience tricky on the 192, because what with...

Does the overload indicator on your interfaces indicate level post reconstruction filtering? If so, thats a good solution.

Re: Metering

I think they do it deliberately! I think the label tells them to make it louder. I think they say 'No...we cant do that without distorting the source and compromising its sonic integrity' and I think...

Re: Patch bay for Pro Control?

Pro Control has a monitoring section which handles either surround or a stereo mix with alternative monitoring pair etc. It does not handle any audio involved in your actual mix. There would be no...

Re: Metering

Thanks Nika

This also further supports the theory that tracking too hot is responsible for a dodgy sounding mix in software. If little overloads are occurring throughout, no wonder people have...

Re: Moving Audio And Tempo Changes Simultaneously?

Thats wierd. I've tried it more than once in the past and not been able to get them to move. I had to do them all manually.

Is there a wierd mode or preference that I'm unaware of?

Re: Soft Clip Limiter on HD

This is a wierd one.

Firstly it is possible to overload the analog stages before the soft clip stage...ie although it is almost impossible to clip digitially via the sc, you can overload the input...
