I do wonder why that nearly-hidden preference is left as an option at all ... and if it needs to be one, why isn't it in the Playback Engine > Delay Compensation area (there's room) rather than under...

Here's something that's been bugging me for a while when using keyed gates.


I've got an HDX rig. Running PT10.3.5

It's on a Westmere hex-core Mac Pro running 10.7.5

For anyone who was interested, Avid did confirm the bug I described, and a fix was included in the 10.2 update this past Tuesday:

Sessions saved in Pro Tools 10.0 or 10.1 with unlinked multi-mono...

Having made the jump from 7.4 straight to 10, I had no idea there were other issues with unlinked plugins.

It's unacceptable, of course. But pretty disappointing too.

I'm working on a session for the first time since upgrading to HDX from my old workhorse PCIx HD4Accel rig. It's on a hex-core Westmere with 24GB of RAM, running 10.7.3 and 10.1.2

For anyone interested in this saga, I did finally test this with my HD6 rig: at 44.1/24, with the dithered mixer, a 2-chip playback engine, and ADC on 'long', I got 208 mono D-Verbs.

Because if I do this, besides hoping that a simpler, chassis-less system could be as powerful as the chassis-enabled rig I'm currently running, I also would like it to be a rig that would 'keep'...

Well, I do tend to do a lot of bussing, and other nuttiness. So yeah, good suggestion; I think what I might do is open up some old, huge mix sessions with a few cards out and see how much of the DSP...
