Re: Poll: How many still using PPC?

Dual 2.3 PPC G5 running 6.9.3 :)

I know.... upgrading PT this week actually. Discussing whether to go to 7.4 or some version of 8 with my dealer, and that's how I found this thread.

Re: Digi 192 I/O question

So I could do this:

Digi 192 #1
8 analog in
8 analog out
8 digital ins and outs

Digi 192 #2

Re: Digi 192 I/O question

For now all analog. I suppose ultimately 24 analog in, 32 analog out and 8 digital ins and outs.

Digi 192 I/O question

So maybe I'm just stupid but I honestly can't figure this out. I've seen lots of conflicting posts. I need 24 inputs and 32 outputs from my HD rig. How many 192's will this take ?

Thanks

Re: midi syncs up, but slighty off beat

Nana, is the timing of the MIDI notes consistent ? Always late by the same amount ? If so you need to figure out how late they are and change the offset. Some of us are having a problem where the...

Re: midi syncs up, but slighty off beat

Maybe related to the MIDI delay problems several of us are having. Check this thread, no word from Digi:

Re: As HD Professionals......

I'll do stereo for everyone except horn and string players. A lot of them bring their own headphones with only one earpiece and the rest pull off one ear so stereo is kind of pointless. But I do set...

Re: As HD Professionals......

I haven't had anyone complain, and since I do a lot of overdub's myself I've never noticed any latency.

As far as the sound, since I got the system I'll often run into the live room to check...

Re: As HD Professionals......

I agree, that and the one headphone output per box are my only gripes. But most performers get it pretty quick.

Re: As HD Professionals......

What Jeremy said is true. Why not give the performers a cue mix they can get inspired by ? I've got the Aviom system and it rocks - musicians are always happy and most comment that it's the best cue...

Re: MIDI I/O great delay problem...!

Any word Digi ? If more than one of us is having this problem there must be something to it.

Re: PCI-e compatibility only \"Core\" cards?..

That's a good point as I also just upgraded to HD and a G5 dual 2.3, basically because my work called for it. I'd like to know what the future brings though I have no real intentions of upgrading...

Re: New Macs=current PTHD cards obsolete!

I can't imagine Digi coming out with new hardware before the Mactels. Seems like they could kill two birds with one stone by waiting. Then again, if I was Steve Jobs I would've waited for the Mactels...

Nice, I was just about to start the same thread. I have the same setup and software versions as the original poster with the addition of two Digi MIDI I/O's. When triggering and recording external...

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

Once again, if my post came off as arrogant I apologize. Often the written word can be taken many ways. The use of "Get it ?" was simply a casual way of asking "Do you understand my point of view",...

Sorry you think I was being arrogant. I was only asking what I thought was a simple question and had no intention of hijacking the thread. We have a difference of opinion and we'll have to leave it...

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

When most people speak of MIDI functions they are speaking of quantization options, different methods of entering and editing MIDI notes, tools for editing MIDI tracks, MIDI arpeggiators, etc. The...

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

Huh, those are totally audio related. Freezing soft synths or tracks with plug-ins so you have access to more audio resources. Logic users have been claiming MIDI superiority for years and some of...

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

"Most People" ? That's a pretty big generalization. I think you could probably split "most people" into two categories - i.e. consumers who expect an app to contain everything and anything they need,...

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

Again, apart from the tools, most of what you're tallking about is not MIDI. . . . which Lee referred to above.

Re: ProTools 7 pertty cool

Didn't think that was a function of MIDI ...... Personally, I think most of the time stretching algorithms are pretty bad. ACID, Live, Serato, Speed - they're all pretty marginal. Not sure I care...
