I've seen this ever since offline bounce was introduced which made me give up on it.
In complex film sessions I usually have to wait for 5-10 minutes for the beachball to settle and before PT...

For recording fx and foley latency is a non-issue IMO. Low latency is needed when you need head-phone feed for a singer who needs to monitor himself though the interface while singing for example....

Yes, big PITA and that they've never heard about it is crazy. I know a couple of dialogue editors in the UK who have been bugging AVID about this since the field recorder workflow was invented back...

I'm afraid this has already been requested some time ago but so far no luck. Don't think it's in PT12.

Re: mc control - surround panner alternative?

I have Spanner and the AVID/JLcooper joystick. The latter does not follow track selections automatically. Just like PT doesn't follow the pan window on track selection. The Joystick will stick to...

Re: CMMD + Num9 not always launching video screen

I always have to hit command-9 twice to make the video window disappear. What's also weird that every time I open my session the video-window is opened in full screen view but I never use it or need...

Re: Video Engine is a joke!!!!!!

You just confirmed what I noted. Unlike H264 the data-rate of DNxHD and ProRes corresponds to the data-throughput the computer has to do.

220 is definitely six times the data rate. It becomes even...

Re: Video Engine is a joke!!!!!!

DNxHD@220 is a rather huge strain, BTW. If you ever run into issues, try DNxHD36. Looks not much different for sound needs and brings down the data-rate to one sixth.
IMO you are wasting quite a bit...

Re: mc control - surround panner alternative?

Thing is:

The round base of the JLcooper isn't ideal for pans that you want to do across the front for example. Which is why the good joysticks have square bases so you can feel and know when you...

Re: mc control - surround panner alternative?

No it's a plugin. It works around the restrictions of the original panner.

Re: mc control - surround panner alternative?

Yes there is. Try Spanner from TheCargoCult.

Lightyears better than the one on the Artist Control especially when you use the free iPad app that comes with it.

Re: Exporting markers within AAF's

How will the MediaComposer read the midi-file? Just put it into one of the MXF subfolders?

Thanks,

Frank.

Re: Exporting markers within AAF's

I don't think this is possible. It works from MC to PT but haven't seen this work the other way.

Markers in MC are object based not time based as in PT so even if PT exported the markers to AAF...

Re: Avid seems to cover the security issues with cloud sharing

Since they're using proprietary crypto there's no way to audit it.

Re: Buying New Video Device ... Choices????

Me neither. I hate these stutter frames. Nowadays I can't believe there was a time where this was standard.

Doing recuts of a 24fps film to PAL film video on 25fps grid.....unbelievable.

So...

Re: Buying New Video Device ... Choices????

The converter will simply do the "good" old ghost-frame trick. You'll see the 1 frame/sec stutter just like in the old days of the Cannopus with 24fps DV PAL QTs or PAL film transfers.

Re: Buying New Video Device ... Choices????

Not sure why anyone on a budget should buy an Aja LHi for 1500$ instead of a 300€ BM SDI card plus a cheap SDI to whatever (HDMI or composit) converter then.

My point was that if you...

Re: Buying New Video Device ... Choices????

Can you even buy HDready TVs still? Just about any TV from super-cheap to high-end is full-HD now. At least it's not really a price issue. The last full-HD TV I bought for on-the-road...

Re: Yosemite support is now available with EuControl 3.2.2 and Workstation 3.2.2!

So EC3.2.2 is no longer compatible with OS10.8.5 while PT11 is?!

Why are EC and PT so often not in sync regarding their system specs? Either you can't use EC with the most recent OS while you can...

Re: Buying New Video Device ... Choices????

The BM Decklink SDI has REF-IN and costs around 250€-300€ new. Works nicely under 11 and 10.

Add a 40€ SDI-HDMI converter if you are using consumer monitors/projectors and save a huge amount of...
