In preferences under the " Display " tab Check the " Draw Grid in Edit window" box. It probably got unchecked by accident.

A quick update:

The audio is still dissapearing even with a buffer setting of 1024......hmmm time to trash prefs i guess.

I feel much better about using the NTK on Bass Cabs. I have seen lots of info on the duc about using it for vox and Guitars but not much on using it...

I'm tracking Bass Guitar on the weekend and was wondering if anyone has used a Rode NTK on a Bass cab. Can i expect decent results or will i damage the Mic ??

Thanks for the reply JFreak.

After all that troubleshooting it turns out the firewire ports on the mac are toast.....Working fine one day and kaput the next. Go figure.

My G4 DP 1.25 is only 7...

Ok here's an update.

I have done the following:

All the steps for troubleshooting at the top of this thread (trashed prefs etc)
Repaired permissions
Zapped pram
reinstalled 6.4 core audio...
