You obviously don't know what that word means, because they do not - the boundaries and backgrounds of all objects are well defined.



There are no problems with the 8 UI that involve contrast....

You must either have some sort of colour calibration problem or contrast related eyesight issue if you think that those items in the mix window are white or bright.

2: Stay on 8.0.1 / other previous version of PT.
