WD MyBook Drive?

I have been running PTLE 6.2.3 on a 12" Powerbook G4 for a number of years without trouble. My chain is basically 002r->LaCie d2->Powerbook G4 on a single firewire port.

In the past two weeks I...

Digi 003 rack: what\'s the difference?

After reading the advertising about the 003 rack, I fail to see any difference between it and the 002 rack (with the exception of an additional headphone jack). Am I missing something?

PS. Does...

Re: Recommended mics and mic pre\'s

For a preamp I would highly recommend the API's, whether you buy the 3124 or a couple of 512 modules and a lunchbox. It would be a nice contrast to your tube Avalon's and have Hi-Z inputs for...

Re: Digi 002 restarting

Sounds like that power harness oxidation problem to me. Somewhere on this site there must be something about using Deoxit to clean the power harness inside the unit, although just exercising the...

HELP!!!!! 1394 Bus issue

Here's an interesting one:

Here is my setup:

Apogee AD16 -> Digi 002rack -> LaCie d2 -> 12" Powerbook G4

All of this being fed through the G4's single Firewire port. This rig has performed...

Re: A/D D/A Converter

The Apogee AD16 works just fine - you can't use all 16 channels since the 002 only allows one TOSLINK connection.

My question is: is the 002 truly 24 bit? Or is it really 20-bit - in which case...

Re: Recommended Adat Digital Cables?...

I like the ones Guitar Center sells - I think the brand is Live Wires. They seem to be a bit more robust in their construction - better jacket, better connector.

Just my $.02

Strange clocking problem?

Forgive the length of this post, but I feel any of the details may be pertinent:

I was recording a concert with my 002r. I had 8 inputs going through an Apogee AD16, and five more utilising the...

Re: Getting Pops and Clicks

These clicks are not printed to the audio files. Does this only happen during record? The only other thing I can think of would be buffer underrun errors which are annoying.

Wait - do you have...

Re: Getting Pops and Clicks

What is your sampling rate set to? ADAT cannot do more than 48KHz unless you go SMUX which needs two ADAT inputs for the same 8 channels.

Best,

Re: Live recording with PowerBook

FWIW - I use a 12" PB G4 I have a Lacie d2, and I daisychain it on the same FW bus as my 002r, and I have had no problems to date (knocking on wood as we speak). I initially used a 6' FW cable...

Re: Digi002 and Powerbook G4 Performance

I use the 002r with a 12" G4 PB for remote tracking, and I have no trouble to speak of. It does 16 tracks on the DaveC test which implies that it should have no trouble tracking that many (or...

Re: Anybody use Reason plug on audio track????

WOW - you mean the aux tracks get printed in a bounce to disk? I always thought you had to print them first (not that it's a bad idea to print external effects - but still).

Re: Recording Acoustic Jazz trio suggestions

You can use accent mics on the bass, piano, kick, and overheads, and then use a stereo pair to capture the group. That gives you 8 tracks, unless you decide to go with mono piano and/or overheads...

Re: Powerbook G4 good for Digi002R?

I have a 1 GHz 12" G4 Powerbook with 512 MB of RAM. It does a respectable 16 tracks on the DaveC test and 11 DVerbs if I remember correctly. I only use it for tracking on remote gigs with a 002r. ...

Kind of related - I ignored the recommended FW cable length when I had a 002r and a FW drive sharing a port on my Powerbook, using a 2-meter cable instead of digi's recommended 1-meter cable...

Are you saying that you have ProTools installed on one drive and XP on the other? If so, then it looks as though this problem is related to the system drive. TheVoice is recording to his sys...

Re: Powerbook Vs. iBook? RAM Size? Stability?

The big difference, as far as I can see, is the processor design. I think the PB has more L2 cache than the iBook which means better/faster performance - an important distinction in an audio...

Re: for kick drum and bass cabinet

One more vote here for the RE20. Definitely not a one trick pony. It's good for lots of things - bass leslie, some bass cabs, some vocals - but it sounds absolutely HUGE on kick.

Wow, just...

Re: Running ProTools LE in a Networked Environment

Just two more issues I have. You have to set the Itunes music folder to a local folder that the user has rights to, and they should not put any files on the desktop. That one has been our biggest...
