I'm hoping to be able to do the same thing,I've got a MOTU Digital timepiece, and a couple 001s.
You need to use MMC,and put your slave...

Re: DIGI! RAID and SATA??

Yes,using the drives separately,as a b-up option certainly sounds like it has more benifits, than SATA at this point. Thanks guys.

Re: tube pre amp

You could always get a Tube pre with a good AD S/PDIF output later on,and up your inputs to 18.

I just had a new P4 built, and the tech who assembled it talked me into installing a couple of WD 120gig...

Re: help! my guitar tone sucks!! (cont.)

The lesser prized vintage ribbons(RCA varacoustic,74B.Shure 330,and 333,Altec Birdcage) are a good deal, and they will only continue to increase in value. You can't say that about many of the purchases...

Re: help! my guitar tone sucks!! (cont.)

For a more "true to ear sound" try using a ribbon mic, they have less electronics to get in the way of the sound.Utilize the great advise you have gotten from all of the replies.
I wonder if the...

Re: anyone making a living using an 002?

When I stated that a rookie with some 57s,and a 002 can kick ass with the right band.
Let me qualify that;
Sometimes the young guys are more willing to experiment, invest alot of thier time,and...

Re: anyone making a living using an 002?

I totaly agree with La Flange.
A rookie with a 002,and some 57s can kick ass on alot of local established guys,if he/she's got the right bands, and some knowledge of Protools.

Re: Anyone from Vancouver?

I sure hope it goes better for you than the 002 demo at Tom Lee.They hgad no b-up and had the typical wire harness failure. The rack should be fine, but try and secure a back up system iof you can.

Re: Clipping my Masters!

Yeah, you're right,it's the L1+,and the C4 doesn't have dither.I use Wavelab to master, and it has a dither optionon on the master section.I suppose it would be after the plug-ins?I don't know ,because...

Re: Clipping my Masters!

I usually use the dither on the C4 or L1.I would say that clipping your master is not a good thing.Take a look at your actual wave form at the sample level by expanding it with the magnifing glass.If...

Re: adat sync in ptle

It can be done with a MOTU digital time piece,or an Ardsync. But linig up the tracks is not that difficult, and is certainly the most cost effective way.If you want to slave the 001 you need one of the...

Re: Going out to analog and back - ok?

Yes,if you have quality analog gear that will do a better job than a plug,I say go for it.
I like to track on Protools, then do a one pass bounce to tape, and back.I try to do any analog...

Re: Making toms sound better

Try nudging your overheads in-line with your tom hits, you can always undo it if you don't like it.
I usually start by lining up the overheads to the snare, then move the kick and toms,so that they...

Re: Thinking about getting T-racks any users and how does it sound??

It does sound very good when used sparingly, but it is not a maximizer. If used to warm up,& EQ a track then import to waves L1 or L2 or DIGI's Maxim,You really can get an analog type of result,with...

Re: Mixer decision for 001 ?

If you can find a Panasonic DA7 w/an ADAT card on ebay that'll be your best bang for your buck.I have one with my 001,I paid 2K for mine, you can get them for $1,500.00 now.I still like to use analog...

Re: OT: If you had the big bucks...high-end mic question

I think I would try and find a U67 for that price.I've seen them go for under three grand, but now they're commanding over $4,000.00 on ebay.I've become very tired of buying gear that does not hold...

Re: How Much Should I Charge For My Studio?

I would definately go with an hourly rate,If you run into trouble,it takes longer than you thought it would, you can always dicount the total by 10% or so.
