Reboot issue affecting Apple Mac Pro

I just saw this on Facebook:

Avid is aware of the reboot issue affecting Apple Mac Pro devices running some Avid products, which arose late yesterday. This issue is top priority for our...

Re: 16gb RAM enough?

Yes. I've upgraded that MacBook Pro from 8GB to 16GB and it worked great for Protools. So I can testify that it is upgradable to 16GB RAM. The issue with that model of MBP is the failure of the...

Re: 2019 MacBook Pro hardware options - best for Pro Tools?

I think the maximum benefit would be achieved by maxing the RAM to 32GB. This is mostly because the i9 processor is already a beast. Of course, this depends on your workflow, the number of tracks,...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

My 2 cents:

I hope they fix the CPU errors, add folders, etc. with the next release or engine update. That is all good and needed. What concerns me is the compatibility with Mojave. By the time...

Re: Installing Pro Tools On Mojave

By the time Avid gets a compatible version out, Apple will probably be getting ready to release another major OS upgrade, hence Avid will be out of sync with the OS again, and again, and again...

Re: Completely Frustrated!

Now I always turned off BOTH the 002 AND the computer before unplugging the firewire cables. I did this because I read about possible damage from hot swapping firewire devices. If the computer is...

Re: Completely Frustrated!

Is it the firewire port on the computer or on the 002? I'm assuming you are referring to the port on the computer since you mention firewire800. The port on the 002 is the older firewire400 type. ...

Re: Completely Frustrated!

Another possibility is a damaged firewire port on the Digi 002/003. These have been known to get damaged by hot plugging or hot unplugging while the power is on. I have not had this problem as I am...

Re: Issues with Pro Tools 10.13.4

It is still only July 2018. Protools 2018/12 isn't expected to ship for another 5 months or so.:D

Re: Completely Frustrated!

I'm not sure if this is your issue or not but since you are using and suspecting the Digi002, this might be of interest to you. This is something I posted on this forum years ago.

Re: Custom Pro Tools Splash Screen?

I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk here, but it appears that on a Mac, the protools application file is all that is in the applications folder. It is titled "Pro Tools.app" on my system and is 2.6...

Re: Pro Tools Perpetual not letting me open PT, even though I've an annual subscripti

Here are a few quick items to try. Do a full shutdown and then restart the computer. Try the Ilok in another USB port. Also try updating your Ilok/PACE software and resynchronizing. Good Luck.

Re: ProTools 2018 on MacBook i7 quad core 2017?

Just to comment on the fan for my 2017 MacBook Pro 15", It hardly comes on when I'm running Protools 2018.4. It is more likely to turn on when I am watching a video or playing a game (generally...

Re: No word on 10.13.4!?!?

Yeah. I got it sorted now. I just had to reboot. I'm guessing it was hung on something and need a reboot to clear it. Thanks again.

Re: No word on 10.13.4!?!?

Thanks for the link. I deleted my Application Manager, downloaded the new version and installed. It still says "Application Manager is unable to connect to Avid servers.

Re: No word on 10.13.4!?!?

Ok. So since my Application Manager 2018.2 won't start, I don't get notification about Application Manager 2018.3 (and don't get to download and install it). Where do I get the updated Application...

Re: No word on 10.13.4!?!?

Hmm. My Application Manager is not working. It does not seem to initialize properly and does not sign in. It could be due to OSX 10.13.4 or Application Manager 2018.2. I updated both recently so...

Re: ProTools 2018 on MacBook i7 quad core 2017?

It works very smoothly for me. I'm not a heavy power user and usually use about 20-30 tracks and a few plugins (compressors, reverbs, and EQ). I use several different audio interfaces that I have...

Re: ProTools 2018 on MacBook i7 quad core 2017?

I'm happily running Protools 2018.3 on a 2017 15" MacBook Pro (Touch Bar) with 16 Gb RAM and 1028GB SSD. However, I'm just using the built-in display for now.

Re: Reverting from 2018.3 to 2018.1

Ok. I may be reading your post wrong (If I am, please forgive me.). It sounds like you downloaded the Protools 2018.1 installer (twice), and When you launch Protools, it still shows version 2018.3...

Re: United We Stand?

Hmm. My memory (as faulty at that may be) seems to recall that there was always a separate Windows and Mac forum on it's own while each version has a combined platform forum (i.e. Protools 10,...
