Re: C'mon Man!!!!

That's the op's whole problem right there - the worst OSX Apple ever foisted upon the world combined with a Hackintosh and an au plugin (he doesn't mention what host he's using to run whatever that...

Re: Plugin Alliance insanity

Don't let one bad apple ruin the experience. Sure PA is glacially slow at fixing some bugs but remember it's not up to them to fix them but the plugin developer. If you listen to the bungholes at...

Re: Plugin Alliance insanity

Yep. December was weird because PA didn't do the regular monthly voucher. Ditto for January IIRC although they did do some 'if you spend this amount you get to use this voucher' thing a few times.

Re: Plugin Alliance insanity

I'd already used my $50 monthly voucher to get the Neve channel strip so the $29 voucher was welcome for the Townhouse comp.

Plugin Alliance insanity

PIA has been doing some insane one-day sales lately. Yesterday it was the Acme Opticom compressor for $49 and today it's the Townhouse compressor for $29. In each case PIA sends/has sent out an email...

Re: reducing CPU load

How did deleting databases stop being a thing with PT11 and beyond? It's still doable with the Pete Gates utility.

Re: Running PT 12.6.1 on a late 2013 6 core MacPro w/ 32GB ram. Is CPU upgrade worth

Seeing what you're running I'm not surprised at your cpu usage numbers. It's to be expected.

While the compatibility chart does say what it says don't take that as gospel. For instance I'm running...

Re: Using VEP6 with two Macs to offload CPU ??

Keep in mind that what I wrote about having the same operating system came straight from the people at Vienna. They also said it's not necessary to have that but that it could lessen whatever issues...

Re: Keyboard works in Pro Tools 10, not in Pro Tools 11

Multiple threads on the same subject in different subforums isn't cool and is against the TOS. Maybe the mods can remove one of them?

Re: Running PT 12.6.1 on a late 2013 6 core MacPro w/ 32GB ram. Is CPU upgrade worth

What's your current cpu clock speed?
More ram won't help with cpu errors.
Why haven't you updated to OSX 10.12.6?

What kind of load are you putting on the system to get the cpu usage you're...

Re: Using VEP6 with two Macs to offload CPU ??

Something you may want to look into and I can't say for sure but it looks like you may be able to update the MBP further than El Crapitan. One source I have says it can be updated to the latest OSX...

Re: reducing CPU load

Just what it says - delete the databases that PT creates. Pete Gates has a fine free utility that does that and more. For those on Windoze look up user guitardom here and he has Trasher for that...

Re: reducing CPU load

Try updating to the last known Sierra update - OSX 10.12.6 if you're not running it already.

Re: Import audio… Beachball

The old Glyphs would do that all on their own. There are even some current bare enterprise hard drives that slow down and park their heads - these are the types of drives that would be used in a...

Re: Import audio… Beachball

Thanks for the info. There is no such thing as a 'usual Glyph spinner'. Some of those old Glyph spinners will spin down on their own even if you have OSX set to never let drives sleep. I know because...

Re: The forum is painfully slow

Slow doesn't begin to describe how the DUC is reacting. It's like Slate is running the servers now

I typed up a long response to a fellow asking about running VEPro on two different...

Re: Using VEP6 with two Macs to offload CPU ??

I used to run VEPo 6 with the two Macs listed in my profile. The iMac I ran was the model previous to the one you have (mine has the dvd drive and your doesn't). I stopped using the combo when I had...

Re: Sweetwater a good place to buy plugins

I used to buy hardware from Sweetwater but never s/w. Now I've transitioned off of buying anything from them due to they don't charge sales tax. It's not that I like giving any government money it's...

Re: Import audio… Beachball

Those external drives - are they on a network or direct connected to your computer? And if direct connected how are they connected? Are the drives somehow sleeping (they're not 'green' drives are...

Re: PT Ultimate crashing because authorization issues

There's your problem - you need to have the license asset on your physical iLok. PT does not automatically authorize during installation to an iLok. You have to download the license asset to your...

Re: PT Ultimate crashing because authorization issues

How about some system info (try putting it also into your profile)? Can't help without that.

In the meantime until we get that - are you using a physical iLok or Cloud? Plugged into a working USB...

Re: PT won't launch in Main User account Mac

Thanks for that info. I did that once on my 2012 cheesegrater running Sierra and it caused me headaches. Thankfully I was able to recover from that.

Re: PT won't launch in Main User account Mac

What OSX are you running? Near as I know the last OSX to allow repair permissions was Sierra.

Re: Upgraded to RME Fireface/No MIDI

I would say incorrectly connected. MIDI cables are some of the most robust cables out there; it's not like a guitar cable that is constantly moving around (or Roger Daltrey's mic cable  )

Re: Missing delay compensation for side chains - is it unworkable?

You need the Digilink license asset on your iLok even when using Avid interfaces.
