Re: Mac Pro 2012 -should upgrade to Mojave?

Yep. Runs fine on Sierra.

OS upgrades, IMHO, are the LAST thing you want to do unless thereís a specific reason.

Re: Getting all confused...want to update PT9

No. Thatís incorrect.

You can still buy a perpetual license to Pro Tools with the current version being 2019.5.

Re: Commit slowness

I actually think commit and offline bounce is working quicker for me since 2019.5. I may be imagining it, but it definitely feels faster.

As mentioned above, system info and what plugins are you...

Re: New Apple Mac mini?

Loading presets from your sample libraries will be sped up greatly. Once they are loaded in RAM it won't matter, but when you flick through presets, that is pulling them in from the HDD. Loading...

Re: 1) "Save Copy In" command does NOT make a complete copy! 2) How to properly back

Yep.

BTW, Iíve never met ANYONE that uses it like that. Iím sure there is someone doing it that way, but it must be a very rare use case scenario.

Re: New Apple Mac mini?

Oh my, what a waste.

If you can open those TB3 cases, rip out those old drives and put some SSDs in there or even better, some NVME drives. Youíll see such a HUGE difference.

Re: 1) "Save Copy In" command does NOT make a complete copy! 2) How to properly back

If you donít want to touch the original session, just save a copy of the session and work on that. Thereís zero need to duplicate the audio files etc.

Having a backup of everything is a good idea,...

Re: PT 2019.5 plug-in efficiency

Yeah Iím not seeing an increased plug in count, although TBH, I havenít really pushed that aspect.

What I am seeing is far less errors. Stability seems much better... so far. This is under Mac OS....

PT 2019.5 plug-in efficiency

Doing it the way you outlined is also advisable on Macs.

Yes it will more than likely work fine just doing an in situ update, but erasing and starting fresh means youíre not keeping old,...

Re: Mojave Thinks PT 2019.5 is a 32-bit App

A lot of people have reported seeing this. Fair few posts on here with screenshots etc.

From memory, itís the Quicktime component that triggers that warning.

Pro Tools 2019.5 some info please!

Firstly, this is a user forum. The only answers youíre going to get to your question are at best, informed guesses. Youíre not talking to the people that designed or coded the software.

Secondly,...

Re: Pro Tools cannot find (all) my aax plugins.

Iím going by the assumption that if he nuked his drive in the Mac and this is all he has, there must be PT sessions and data on this drive.

Totally agree that he needs to reinstall apps etc. but...

Re: Pro Tools cannot find (all) my aax plugins.

The solution seems simple to me.

You mention youíre not very computer savvy. You donít have the original Mac. You have the drive connected to the PC and ran a MacDrive trial that gave you access...

Re: Pro Tools cannot find (all) my aax plugins.

Donít move the plugins. Content/libraries can reside on different drives, but not the actual AAX plugins.

As others have pointed out, they need to stay where they are installed to by default.

Re: How to remove plugins from the PT list

Move them to the unused plugin folder and they wonít appear.

If you donít own licenses for them, then just delete them.

Re: I own PT11, how can I get PT12?

Whoops!

I thought the OP actually meant 2018/2019 etc.

Agreed in that thereís zero point going to v12. But, Iím now curious, you can still upgrade from v11 to the latest version right?

Re: I own PT11, how can I get PT12?

Why would you want to do anything other than upgrade? Itís going to be your cheapest option.

Also, youíll get to keep v10 and v11 as your upgrading from an older version.

Which PT version for my system?

As I suspected.

That machine can accept 32GB of RAM. At the very least, rip out those 2GB modules and add 2 x 8GB modules which will give you 24GB total. If you can afford it, rip them all out and...
