Power of a DSP farm compared to Mix farm? Realistically.
The DSP has two or four chips? And the Mix has six... Are the motarolla chips fairly comparable on both cards?
Thanks for any help people Peace |

the dsp farm will give you 8 in/outs
the mix farm will give you 16 in/outs |

Hi Alecio,
I meant the actual DSP power, not the ins/outs. Is a DSP farm 2 chips or 4? Hows life in Brazil? Steve |
Re: Power of a DSP farm compared to Mix farm? Realistically.
The DSP farm has 4 chips which are less powerful than the ones on the MIX card. Waves plug-ins, however, seem to utilize the old farm cards nicely...

Re: Power of a DSP farm compared to Mix farm? Realistically.
The Mix Farms have three different kinds of chips (total of 6) some of which run different plugs than the others... (can't remember the scientific details but if you do a search here on DUC you will find plenty of info) For example, you can't run more than 4 reverbs on a Mix farm... however, the DSP farms all have the same kind of chip... DSP farms are a good option (esp. costwise) if you are a heavy Waves user or need an extra card for non time based (ie: NOT reverb, delay, pitch shifting) processing...
