Magma PE6R4-I or PE6R4 EM

Bit the bullet, bought a Mac Pro 12 Core, adding 8 Gigs more for a total of 14 and now I need an expansion chassis since DIGI doesn't support the EXPANSION|HD and I have a six card PCI-X card PT HD sys (1 core and 5 accel cards).

I have been reading a lot about the different incarnations of the PE6R4 chassis and honestly I'm very confused, both work? only the one with 1 cable or the infiniband is good (the I chassis) which a bunch of people claim doesn't work but is the one DIGI actiually sells!!!!

Please Digisupport guy...chip in and give us light on this!!!!!

thxs for the comments in advance

Using the Regular R4 here. No problems. Not sure how it will do with the 12 core though. They just started shipping and I am sure there aren't too many people using that with a chassi yet. Call magma and see if they tested one of those.

The PE6R4I chassis works totally fine here on my 8 core. Are you asking whether or not the 12 core is a different situation?

Not really...there is a bunch of information on the DUC about the PE6R4-I doesn't work at all

I tend to not take this risks but the temptation proved stronger than the brains

Hi,

Thousands of people using the I-pass version. only seen one post of an I-pass version not working with someone's core card. Magma no longer do the Infiniband version.

I think is more than one but...I might be wrong...I'm going to buy the I version on B&H I'll be assembling the system little by little since I got to clone a sound drive, libraries, (I intend to keep the QUAD G5 as a second LE system with full programability) etc and still in the middle of a couple of projects...I'll post results.

THxs
