Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
I have searched through the forums trying to find out why I am getting two notes for everyone one I input through my midi controller keyboard. I have worked out how to get rid of them (event-remove duplicate notes), but it is really annoying as an event after the fact.. The threads about this show someone has accidentally put a midi cord in and then out again, causing the midi echo. This is not the case here. In fact, this anomaly only just happened recently. I've had the same setup & same controller keyboard (Roland RD-700GX). I've explored all midi options on the out of my keyboard and all options on the midi input (M-Box). Please help, as this is wasting so much time each session?

Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
Welcome to the community.
USB or MIDI connection? Both? Have you possibly enabled another overlapping zone on the keyboard, thus sending two notes for each key press? Have you tried a factory reset on the keyboard? |
Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
If in your MIDI input select field, you have it set to All,
go into your midi studio set up and assign your specific keyboard, then in MIDI input select on your track, select the instrument you created and a specific channel and you should be good. e |
Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
I had this happen when I was using a Roland TD-10 kit. Turned out that having MIDI cables connected both ways(so MIDI came back while recording) was the cause(unplugging the returning MIDI cable solved that one):o

Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
I am using a midi cord (5 pin) & no USB. In the original question I posted, I noticed that other posts addressed that issue, but I have never had a cord double back situation, which would obviously cause a midi echo. I have also assigned the actual keyboard I use & have no overlapping zones. As I said in the question, I have been using this setup for about 7 years with no problem. The only recent change has been moving my studio to another room. I just don't know what is causing this, as I have not changed any settings on the keyboard or Pro Tools 11. HELP????

Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
Simon:
Get the utility program called MIDIOX and run it. It should tell you what MIDI messages are going back and forth from your keyboard. Also try resetting your keyboard to factory settings. Obviously something changed in moving and it's not in PT11. |
Re: Midi echo or duplicate notes HELP
Thanks for that tip. I'll check it out & let you know the outcome. Is the program to detect midi traffic free?
