i can't create new documents or save exeisting protools files to my external drive. i can create sessions abd save to my internal drive - but i'm working on a powerbook 667 so that is useless to me.

i get this error message:
"Could not create a new document because: (-51) while creating "songname".

i recently got my 002 back from a wire harness repair. i mixed some things and saved them to this drive since i got it back but now all of a sudden i got NUTHIN'! this is the first brand new session i have created since getting it back.

i get a firmware warning when protools opens that the system firmware v1.04 doesn't match the current version of v1.07 - but i didn't think it was a problem cause it worked fine when i clicked through by selecting "download later". could that be it? i don't want to create a whole seperate issue until i solve this disk error.

please tell me it's something simple like i need to zap my PRam or something.

What the frick?

i backed up all the files and low level formatted the drive. i think pro tools wrote a whack file to that drive. it was acting fine and then when i creatd a new session...blamo.


thankfully nothing was destroyed.

that was weird.
