Interface advice for Native

Coming from PT HD3 Accel 10 (which will keep for tracking on Mavericks drive) & just upgraded to PT Ultimate 2019.10 Native (which will use for mixing on Sierra drive).

Want to keep 2012 Mac Pro 5,1/64/3.43 12core cheese grater & since the PCI slots are taken want to know what hardware is recommended for Native.

Possibilities I've thought of include:
Apogee Symphony w/ Dante (via Ethernet)
Lynx HiLo via USB
Any others?

I've been using RME UFX's (MK1 & MK2). Excellent drivers and work well with PTU. Just remember the 32 I/O limit (though you do mention you are using it for mixing)
Also note that in conjunction with Totalmix (included) and the RME Advanced Remote Control, you don't need any other monitor controller... even for surround options.

UA Apollo X8P or X8 all day long! We have 4 of them and they beat the heck outta basically everything we borrowed to test run before buying all these new F series and ven though we had the Black face ones which were traded in.

Won't work - the OP is on a cheesegrater and hence no Thunderbolt ports.

I would suggest that since you are only tracking with HD, to ditch one of the DSP cards and get a USB3 card in there. That way you can hook up a UFX+.
Or depending on the HD interface you are using you could get a RME-Raydat PCIe card and hook up your converters to that.
Try to stay away from Firewire interfaces.

this x1billion. PCIe RayDAT is an absolute diamond of an interface. And with PCIe staying in the new mac pro, it should hold it's value and continue to be updated driver-wise for a long time.

Metric Halo ULN8 - excellent, extremely powerful interface with built in monitor control and can connect to your machines either over USB or Ethernet.

Can the Pro Tools | HD Native Thunderbolt Interface be used with Ethernet adapter from/to Cheesegrater?

Nope. No Thunderbolt protocol with old macs. No adapters will work.
