Reverb One - Vocal Reverb advice

Hi - I recently got reverb one - and would love some advice on what kind of reverb settings people love for vocals - I just kind of experiment with plates and halls - and would love a few good pointers of what works really well for vocals.
Many thanks

Re: Reverb One - Vocal Reverb advice

First of all: Good choice!
R1 is the best reverb for PT. (IMHO)
What people like? good question, it depends on the style, voice, arrangement, on you, just do something different, think different, create something new and if YOU LIKE IT it's GOOD!!!

Re: Reverb One - Vocal Reverb advice

Here's a couple of common tricks you can try:

1. Set a real long pre-delay in R1. Like close to 200ms, it does a nice job of letting a gentle reverb sit well in the mix.

2. Put a compressor plug after the reverb and compress it using the vocal as the side chain. Use a fast attack and really fast release, a farely high compression ratio 8:1 or better, so you get about 6 to 12 dB of compression. This will duck the reverb during strong vocals and release the reverb in time for a good vocal tail. This lets you haver a nice rich reverb without muddying up the mix.

Experiment as neither of these methods is right for every mix.
