Syncing PT5.6.1 to Studio Vision Pro
 

Could someone please give me a detail step by step set up of Syncing Pro Tools 5.6.1 to Studio Vision Pro.

I had to dissemble my studio last year and now in putting it all back, I can't get the two to sync.

I'm using two separate computers: (both Macs) one that is running all my midi stuff. It's a power Mac 7500. Running 8.6.3? - it's using Opcode Studio Vision Pro thru Opcodes Studio 64 midi interface. And the Audio Recording Computer is an Apple G4 running OS 9.6 - the audio comes in through a Digi 001 via a PCI card.
I've set it up according to SVPs user manual - syncing SVP to PTs using MMC. (MTC). The thing is, I'm able to stat Pro Tools just fine - but, Vision will not play. ....and it seems as though every manual or user forum I search, each has a different way. Could someone please, either point me to a way to have Pro Tools slaved to SVP. I am almost certain this is how I had previously ran the two. I would appreciate detailed steps. Thanks so much. MB

IIRC, you need to use the 'IAC' bus for internal communication of software on the same mac. I forget exactly how to do this as its been well over 15+ years since I have done this.

First off, you can just run a serial cable between the two macs rather than using MIDI interfaces for time code.

One mac needs to run on internal and the other needs to run on external locked to the digital output of the one on internal.

I missed that 2 separate mac part! I have done this before pre-rewire days with 2 mac PTLE5.1.1 digi 001 and Reason 1.0. with a Lexicon core2 and cheap midiman interface. I sent MTC out of PTLE via 001 into the midiman. Do you see the opcodes 64 leds indicate you are getting midi to it from the 001? If so SVP isn't syncing. Ensure the channels are set correctly, maybe reset the midi patchbay inside of the 64. Hell try Beat Clock too. I have never tried it the way Bob has mentioned.
