Pro Tools freezes - "restoring audio playlists"

I am running Pro Tools 10.3.7 on a PC.

When I open up old songs or songs which I am collaborating from sent from a different user the program freezes while Pro Tools says it is "restoring audio playlists".

I'd like to know how to fix this or if I should go back to an earlier version.

Hi,

Is this every legacy session you open?

Have you tried creating a new session and using import session data to bring the old sessions in? Maybe import only a few tracks at a time and see if it is any specific track that is causing it?

Are all your plugins up to date? This can cause problems if the sessions have an old plugin that's not up to date etc.

Or try loading the session hold down the shift key to open with plugins deactivated incase it is plugin related.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried importing in to a session and I just tired the shift key, neither working for this issue.

Did you find any solution to this? Just started happening today and its happening on multiple different sessions. Importing all the tracks into a new sessions worked fine but I can't realistically do that all the time. Thanks!

I did find a solution. I had some early version Waves plugins that were loading with the songs that turned out to not be compatible with Pro Tools 10. When I deleted them from the plugins folder everything started working.

Do you have any idea why opening them with the Shift key didn't work?

No, it seems that they were just incompatible with Pro Tools 10. Some other programs automatically put plugins on a "blacklist" the second time you load up the program but Pro tools would just stop every time.
