System 5 & DAD AX32/Avid MTRX
 

Hi guys!

I was wondering, if one wished to swap out ones Avid/euphonix converters would the MTRX/AX32’s monitoring be able to replace the MA703 thats running digital monitoring? Or does the digital monitoring depend on a present MA703?

It's been a long time but the MA703 is really just a standalone converter. The digital control of the monitored signal happens on the MADI feed into it. Switching to a MTRX wouldn't change anything about operation (though on the MTRX, I wouldn't use the Pro Mon monitoring controls in addition unless you want to complicate things with two monitor controllers in series -- the Euphonix side and the Pro Mon side)

Ah ok, i was only wondering as im looking i to replacing the euphonix converters with newer tech, as i only have one MA and one AM i havent really any excess IO for my outboard so im just contemplating different options. I got 25-26 on each converter available but thats 2 mono or a stereo unit which isnt alot.
