Laptop advice for prospective MBox

I am new to this group. I am considering jumping from my current hardware (Roland Studio Pack) to the MBox. I would also like to run this on a laptop. I am not trying to record 10 tracks at once, just small demo stuff for mainly my own amusement.

I am interested in a Windows laptop as well, as this machine will also be used for work purposes - so buying an iBook is not an option for me.

I am curious what is the most valuable as far as hardware goes. I am shooting for at least 512MB of RAM, a 1394 port, and at least 2 USB 2.0 ports. I have a external USB 2.0 100GB 7200 RPM drive that I use with Cakewalk now, and it runs excellent with my home PC.

And what about the ongoing debate of Athlon vs. P4? I have read the Dave C test thread and have seen some great Athlon results. Is this really the way to go? I have always bought Intel in the past.

Any advice - brands, speeds, memory, HD, etc is greatly appreciated - including what to avoid in the purchase! Thanks!!

Jeff
