Weird sound, please help

My 002 rack is doing a weird "static" like sound lately. I just got a laptop "Gateway Athlon 64 3700+" with the orig 4200rpm harddrive. I'm planing to upgrade it to a 7200rpm drive soon. Anyways the first time I played some backing tracks for my band live at our rehearsal studio and everything went smooth, but now it makes the weird noise. At one piont PT stoped and said it may be the limited firewire bandwidth???
Is this a known problem? I heard of people not using the onboard firewire etc...
It happened a couple times in the past with my desktop. About a month ago my 002 stoped working! then I shook it and came back haha. So I'm wondering if all this has to do with the power harness going bad again? Or maybe it has to do with the power outlets at our studio?
Anyone?

Joz: Just was chatting with another fellow user with a similar issue yesterday man. First thing that came to mind was the power harness deal due to the fact that he already traded out all of his cables otherwise for new ones and un-hooked/re-hooked everything..etc.. He also noted that when he held in the 48v button on one of the channels it would stop for 6 seconds and then re-start with the static/noise.. Might try the power harness deal possibly and check your outlets in your studio for starters man. Otherwise, maybe Digi will chime in with a couple of suggestions for folks here. Hope all is cool. peace

Thanks man!
I also noticed that when I press the rewind button with the mouse the sound goes away for that second. Weird!!!

Joz, when you hear it again, punch in one of the two 48v buttons on the back and let me know if the sound goes away for a second or two... okay?

Re: Weird sound, please help

the best solution is to not use backing tracks
