"pro tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program"

Just started receiving this on PT start up:

My hardware is a 002 Digidesign control surface, however even without of the 002 switched on & unplugged; I still get the same results.

Any ideas?

Did you install the 002 driver? Its a separate install. Then, hold the N key while opening Pro Tools so you can go directly to the Audio Engine select page and select either the 002 or the core audio(onboard) for Macs, or if you have Windows, try downloading ASIO4ALL, which SHOULD allow you to use the onboard audio, but use ASIO4ALL as a last resort as it CAN cause problems. On my rig, ASIO4ALL caused the 003 to not work(but as soon as I uninstalled ASIO4ALL, everything worked dandy(was trying to use another interface).

Yeah I have the latest digi 002 control surface driver installed. I have already tried that, it then defaults to the ASIO4ALL option which gives out the same message, also it always changes back to the original selection each time.

I will try to figure out how to uninstall my copy of ASIO4ALL.

My bad, I must have forgotten to re-install ASIO4ALL after I last formatted. Turns out it's another PCI soundcard that was displaying. Instead of clicking 'Ok' I clicked 'Cancel' and it loaded straight up?!!

I am now however been confronted to re-register my copy of Pro Tools.. something not quite right going on, but never the less I'm back in for now.

Thank you for your input.
