Avid dock fader noise
 

Hi everyone,

I bought a new avid dock a few weeks ago. While using it I though the fader was making more noise than it should, it's about as loud as the artist mix faders. So I got a replacement unit, but the fader makes the same amount of noise as the previous unit.

I've made 2 quick smartphone videos of the sound.

Does anyone recognise the sound? Or should it be smoother and lower in volume? I'm not sure if I put my expectations too high..
The touch response and movement work fine.

Yep. Familiar. The S3 is a little quieter, D-Command and S6 are a lot quieter. You get what you pay for. I made a soft key for Eucon/Global/Faders Off for when you're doing critical listening. But they only bug me during slow fade-outs.

Several sources told me this is indeed normal behaviour. Too bad the fader is not really better than the avid mix ones.
Im going to add the faders off soft-key, thanks for the tip!
