Digi 002 X FireWire X Thunderbolt
 

Hi Guys,

I want to plug my Digi 002 to my new Mac mini.

Mac mini = thunderbolt
Digi 002 = IEEE 1394 Firewire 400

Does an IEEE 1394 Firewire 400 to thunderbolt cable/adapter even exist?

From what i read and heard, the only way to plug my Digi 002 to my new Mac mini would be to get the Apple Firewire 800 to thunderbolt cable then to connect another fireWire 800 to fireWire 400 adapter to it.

Please say it ain't so...

FW to TB adapter and then a FW800 to FW400 cable.

Not that big a deal and works flawlessly.

Just be aware that the latest drivers for the 002 only support up to El Capitan: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...02-003-Drivers

I didn't try it yet but i just wanted to make sure that all the adapter to adapter chain plugging won't cause glitches and interruptions. But Thanks for the info!

UPDATE: Hey guys!!! I finally got my pro tools 12 installed on my Mac mini with the latest high sierra OS, my Apple thunderbolt to FireWire 800 adaptor, my moshi 400 to 800 FireWire adaptor and the latest drivers for digi 002 and everything works PERFECTLY!!! No glitches or issues so far. I am Absolutely NOT getting rid of my digi 002!

Hi there
Only want to let u guys know, success with digi 002 rack on windows 10 and HighSierra.
Alongside with this great interface , i own the scarlett 6i6 2nd gen.
If u compare those two devices, the scarlett sounds thin and flubby compared to the digi 002.
Compared with Focal Aria Speaker and Rotel RB 980BX Power Amp and Rotel RB 1590 Power Amp

How are you guys doing with the software, I have a DIGI 002 that I haven't used in years. I'd like to use it with a Mac now, do I need to buy software again? I'm having trouble even figuring out how much that'll cost.

Which software are you talking about? Protools?
