But that won't stop any of the plugins from working.

Nope, until you update something else and it breaks Waves. Then you're out of luck without WUP

Hi I just want to know, when you buy a Waves bundle like the (Gold Bundle) on a reduced price are you buying it out right or are you just renting it? Because I've bought the Gold bundle and has stopped working after a year?
Please advise
Cheers

I've bought all of my Waves plugins and bundles on sale...Gold, Platinum, NLS, IR-1, C6, HEQ, everything. I've let my WUP lapse for about a year and a half now and they all still work. Have to renew once they update to version 10 or something.

Waves has started doing subscriptions on plugin bundles, one of which is Gold. Are you sure that you got a full license or was it a subscription?

It's the silver, platinum and mercury that have a subscription plans.

Here's the page with prices http://www.waves.com/subscriptions
This is the first time I've seen subs from Waves - how long have they been doing this?

I don't know how many times I have corrected this assertion across the web over the last few years...

You DON'T need WUP to update.

I know, I made this mistake too. Thats why I help others to learn from my errors. Your plugins will update fine without WUP. Albeit, there has been a small amount of exceptions, like when they went 64-bit.

You do, however, need WUP for major upgrades. Version 10 being the classic example which may be around the corner it would seem.

Any other company would charge you an upgrade fee anyway. RX was like $400 upgrade, Fabfilter upgrade are like $100-150. Waves WUP for plugins are a small fraction of these costs and it plateaus out at around $300. Many companies don't do that either.

There are other perks for those with bundles as they periodically get free plugins added in. It may not always be with the WUP just for that, but if you hold on you eventually get your money's worth in added plugins.

You certainly don't need to be renewing WUP every year.

Weird, I could have sworn that they were pushing Gold as their main subscription bundle since it's probably their most popular bundle.

Any way, I already own Platinum and IF I upgrade, it will probably be to Horizon.

Isn't THIS so much better than any fixed frequency dynamic EQ?
