thats because its not really all that different from a 002, with word clock. No raving reviews because there's nothing to rave about, just stale stagnant water. "better" mic pres... still sub par. TWO HEADPHONE outs!! woo hoo!!

I disagree that the reason that a comparison hasn't been done is because the 003 is not that much different than the 002.
The specs for the preamps are different, which suggests they are "better", and i'm curious to hear how....

They do sound better. Digi put quite a bit of time into making sure of that. I don't know why everyone is complaining. Would you prefer to still be buying 002's today, or paying less for the 003, which sounds better, has better mic pre's, and word clock ?

Yes I would really like to get some opinions on the 003 rk.
I am considering trading in my 002 but would like some opinions if I should bother.
I would miss the faders for sure, but I wonder if it would be worth the (assumed) better sound?

I would hold off on that trade-in. If the post by the Digi Tech Support cat who chimed in when we all lambasted the 003 has any merit then there's supposedly a full-featured new LE-type platform is on its way. Besides, I just can't imagine you're going to see that much of an improvement over your 002. But that's just my .02 on the 003.

As I've stated, there is a noticeable improvement in the sound. Maybe thats not important to you...
It's enough to make me want to change up from my 002
