treating a small room

Any good tips or places to look for info on treating a small home studio control room, "un-squaring" and surfacing?
5x5x2,5 meters.
(15x15x8 feet)
(Doesnt sound too good, right)

I’ve been relying on filling it up w/furniture, hanging stuff on the walls and close-monitoring till now.
Checked the half-empty room w/sinus tones and listening around - extreme cancellations and multiplications.

The budget is, well, limited.

Any help appreciated.
Ben

HI BEN,
Don't worry about the square room! it s only the first few fundermentals that are a problem.
The crap thing is all dimentions are multiples of each other.
LISTED=
34 Hz = (to low for nearfields)
68 Hz = length , width ; problem
76 Hz = L&H,W&H,L&W
97 Hz = L&H,W&H
103 Hz = L,L&W&H ,W&L&H
124 Hz = LH,WH,LW
128 HZ = LWH
137 HZ = L,W,H
141 Hz = LH,LWH,WH,LW.LW.LW
145 Hz = LWH
153 Hz = LW,LW,LH,WH,WH
157 Hz = LWH,LWH,LWH
168 Hz = LWH,LWH
172 Hz = LH,LW,WH
175 Hz = LWH
185 Hz = LWH,LWH
197 Hz = WH
206 Hz = H,LWH
& Up to 250Hz is only real problem area which can be fixed with a wide Que panel resonator
(see studio acoustic book for design, easy!)
The rest can be fixed with 1 & 1/2" dacron wool(the stuff in pillows) suspended out from the walls 4 inches away (use your imagination!)
This will kill all problems down to 125 Hz
The ceiling also needs the same treatment.
You only need to loose 4" all the way round the room & 8" at the rear for the resonator to fix all your sonic grief!
Dont worry square rooms are easy to calculate the modes for. Email me if you want specific details & I can talk you through the process.

P.S The materials cost under $1000 bucks, but you need to do all the labour youself.
