Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.

When i use the grabber tool to pull out a fade, or adjust the position of a crossfade the automation doesn't follow as normal. The same happens when i use the smart tool to create a new fade. Automation follows edit is on. Am i missing something or is there a serious bug with basic editing functionality?

this seems to have only started since upgrading to 2019.10

Hi, Crossfades are separate from automation and are applied to the clip, so you won't see a fader move during a crossfade. "Automation Follows Edit" has to do with whether or not the automation associated with a clip follows the clip when edited - such as when you cut and paste a clip, the automation will follow that clip if that option is enabled.

Hi Chris, thanks for your response.

To be clear, when i nudge a fade on a clip using the keyboard commands it moves the level automation breakpoints with it, but when i manually move a clip fade using the grabber tool the breakpoints do not move with it.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Any chance you could post a screenshot of the two situations that seem to function differently?

That doesn't look good.

AFAIK, the automation points are moving with nudge because they are within the highlighted area. Highlight a node away from the fade and use nudge. The node should move. When you use the Grabber Tool to change the fade, you are only moving the fade edge, not the node or nodes under it.

So moving or adjusting the fade must not be considered an "edit" by design.

Automation used to move along with the fade as long as the automation was at the fades edges. This behavior is new since 2019.10. I regard this as a bug. A big one.

Thank you. I thought I was going mad.
