Clean install of 12.8?

I'm running Win 7 Pro 64X and PT 12.4.

I've been seeing some very flaky behavior with PT 12.4 this week and think a reinstall might be advisable. But rather than reinstall 12.4, I think it's high time I install 12.8.3. I've been postponing that because I don't like doing it mid-project.

Need advice on the workflow for this.

I use Trasher 3: Should I back up Prefs, I/O settings, etc., uninstall 12.4, install 12.8, then restore what I backed up using Treasher?

I haven't done a reinstall in a while, and the last time I did was before I started using Trasher.

I seem to remember that there was at least one and possibly two folders related I believe to plug-ins that I dragged to another drive and then copied back over once I had reinstalled.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I found this and hope it's still correct. It cites an older version of Trasher. I'm using Trasher 3, build 18.

What I'm most unclear on is what I should not backup then restore.

I definitely want to restore my prefs, plug-in settings, templates, and I/O settings.

I'm unsure about the databases.

Looks like everything is resolved. Thanks to advice from musicman691 and guitardom I used Trasher 3 then uninstalled 12.4 and installed 12.8.3.

So far so good! All the issues including the missing bar 6 I reported in another thread are gone.

I didn't realize that Trasher 3, the link I posted above, and a video I found by googling were all courtesy of guitardom: Thanks.

This saved me a lot of hassle.

That's the plan! :-)

I was concerned that I'd spend a few days sorting this out...it was really only the time it took to uninstall and reinstall.
