Recommendation Request (which PT version)
 

I have a 5,1 flashed 2009 8 core 2.93ghz mac pro running Sierra and I've been tolerating PT11 and it's annoying audio import bug and video engine initialization long enough. I would like to upgrade to upgrade to a stable, functional version of PT and am looking for recommendations for the best option.


Needs:
I generally use PT for creating quicktimes, basic audio editing/consolidating, opening sessions from other people for reference, but not for any active mixing or music production. I know I definitely do not want the entry level version of PT but I also don't really need HD.

I currently cannot upgrade my OS beyond 10.12.6.

I'm asking here because from what I can tell PT 2018 is not technically supported on my hardware (I don't have an i5 processor).

It seems like a version of PT12 would work if I could somehow buy a license for it but I don't see that option anywhere. Maybe I get a PT12.5+ license with PT2018?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

You don't have an i5. You have a Xeon.

And Pro Tools 2018.10 will run fine and stable on macOS 10.12.6. (and you don't need Ultimate)
