Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
I am just starting my discovery of the VI/Softsynth world and it's been quite stimulating. Already downloaded a demo of Albino and that was cool. I'm looking for demos of more traditional preset sounds and loops (keys, drums, strings, horns) that I can trigger through my midi device. Of course I'm also interested in exploring the cool electronica sounds too but my overall question is:
where can I download soft synth sound library, loops and synth demos before I invest hundreds of dollars on them? Any help is appreciated. System is: Windows XP 1gb Ram PIV 3.4 Hyper Thread Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1 Already have the lite version of Ableton live and Drumcore. Thanks. Dave in the OC |

Virsyn Tera have an rtas version; anything else I use is via the VST-RTAS adapter or is one of the Orchestral/percussion/keyboard sample libaries that's loaded into a Kontakt instrument and thus there's no demo. Cheers re_mute |
Re: Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
Hey Dave,
There's a new soft synth coming up shortly, it is called SynthMaster. Check out http://www.kv331audio.com/downloads.aspx in a couple of weeks. Please note that the LE version is NOT a demo, it is a full working version with 3 limitations: 1. 5 voices/plugin instance 2. 2 plugins per session 3. 10 bits audio input resolution If you're wondering what SynthMaster is capable of, here are some demos: 1. First, here's the demo tutorial video: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...rtutorial1.wmv 2. It has a 16 band vocoder. Here's how it sounds: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...tervocoder.wma 3. It has a very flexible arpeggiator, with upto 16 steps: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...rpeggiator.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...giator_9_8.wma 4. With SynthMaster, you can turn your mouse into a 2D MIDI controller: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...rMouseDemo.wma 5. SynthMaster supports microtuning, which enables the user to use scales such as Arabic/Turkish scales: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...orastmakam.wma 6. It support additive/subtractive/fm/am/pm/osc sync synthesis. There are 3 oscillators, 4 modulators, and 3 filters with stereo outputs: http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...erDrawbars.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...erFilterFM.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...rStereoPad.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...gioCtrlLFO.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...gishFatOsc.wma http://www.kv331audio.com/synthmaste...alogfilter.wma As I said, I'm hoping that the free version will be available shortly, around the end of the month. Re: Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
Sample Tank 2 FREE is, well, free. But it's also a demo for the full version. I like the piano. I have not purchased the full version but this is making me consider it. It can be hard on the CPU but you have a much better CPU than I.
http://www.sampletank.com/Main.html?STFreeDwn Xpand! (I'm not excited, the '!' is part of it's name ) is only $10 From Digidesign. It's best feature IMHO is you can easily layer upto 4 Intruments to create new sounds. http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...51&itemid=4784 |
Re: Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
Get the wrapper as mentioned above then go to www.kvraudio.com and search free synth VSTs. There are loads of good ones. I am very partial to Analog Warfare 2, Crazy Diamonds, Oberon and Plugsound free.

Re: Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
Hi all,
Finally, the wait is over SynthMaster Free is now available. You can download it at: http://www.kv331audio.com/downloads.aspx With the final release version we have some bug fixes and 2 new features: 1. Variable polyphony between 8-64 voices. 2. Variable number of "unison" voices between 2-4 voices. We believe that SynthMaster will be a "must have" soft synth plug-in in your sessions. Try it, you'll love it |
Re: Looking for Virtual Instrument / Soft synth demos
......again, it would be great to have a Mac version, and an RTAS version at that!
