New Avid Link 2020.1 - launched today 1/16/2020

New Avid Link 2020.1 - launched today 1/16/2020

We are pleased to announce a new version of Avid Link 2020.1, launched today 1/16/2020 at 12:00 noon ET.

“ What’s New” in Avid Link 2020.1: Listed below are the new features in Avid Link 2020.1. Also attached is the “What’s New” Guide. This “What’s New’ Guide has been uploaded to the Knowledge Base Avid Link Documentation Page.

Included Apps & Plugins - As of Avid Link 2020.1 we have added new functionality to give you access to all the applications, plugins and extras included with your MyAvid account. Once you have logged into Avid Link and the application has finished synchronizing the product list, there will be a new“Included Apps & Plugins” link which will display items that come with a specific product. For example, if you have Pro Tools | Ultimate in your account, you can now see exactly which plugins, drivers and apps are included with Pro Tools | Ultimate (rather than list them individually on the main page).

Products Page Update - Depending upon the product, you can choose to install, download, or redeem your product from the Products page.

- Install: These are products where Avid Link handles the download and the installation (for example, Media Composer, Pro Tools, plugins.)

- Download: These are products that are available to download. Once you click Download, the product is downloaded to the Avid Link Download folder which automatically opens to give you quick access to the download file where you can then run the installer for that product. If an item has already been downloaded, the status for that item changes to Open.

- Redeem: These items are available to you but might require a redemption or registration to access on a 3rd party website. Clicking Redeem will pre-copy an Activation code (if applicable) and launch a web browser to that company’s website.

New Users Guide: The new Users Guide has been uploaded to the Knowledge Base Avid Link Documentation page.

Questions, let Jeffro, Tope or myself know.

Until then at a minimum Avid Link is "instant uninstallware".

ModHat OFF! Agree 100 with this. Uninstall quicker than my own shadow ;)

Cloud and Link goes Bye Bye with every update as PT re:installs those and having the CHOICE ... AVID? to NOT install would not give such a bad taste and having to login with long emails and passwords everytime since Link doesn’t remember my credentials is soo 1999 and should be a standard function like EVERY other similar app but noooo ... Not here noooo

Can’t grasp why this isn’t implemented already as it is (I know) litterary less than an hour of code work or less depending on how good of a type-r you are. Shoumd been in the 2019.XX updates already

Soooo .... Avid PUHLEEEESE !!! We are ALL asking now ;)

There are oodles of complaints here from those who are not interested in either Avid Link or Cloud Collaboration & positive Posts are rare.

Streamline the Pro Tools installer by not including them.

Those who need them can download them directly from their Avid Master Account/My Products - already the favored Port of Call for downloads.

Good to see the arrival of Track Folders - Number 12 of Pro Tools Expert's "Top 21" ACA Vote Feature Suggestions - it was also the Number 1 for years, in another (ignored) Poll.

For the love of Pro Tools!

With that said, this version of Avid Link seems to be snappiest so far and apart from the login issue seems to work rather well IMO

Great to read this version’s a goer!

I’ll use it to see what updates I need.
Then, as mentioned, I’ll uninstall it and download directly from My Avid Account>My Products.

It’s the only way to stop the Avid Link pop-up appearing, every time I go online. And it has to tell when I'm offline, too, just in case I had a Senior Moment and forgot.

Ah Marianna must love it when she crosses over to the dark audio side of Avid/DUC. :-)
