Console for AVID online video room?
 

Can anyone recommend a small footprint, 5.1 capable, audio console that would be used in a Media Composer room?
The board would need to monitor decoded Dolby E (8 ch) and be fairly simple to operate.

We have been using dangerous audio monitor controllers to monitor 5.1 in our online rooms. There's no facets or mixer at all. They just have source buttons and a volume knob (we calibrate the rooms to 79db as well) so they are really simple. Plus they have stereo inputs for various decks, computer audio etc etc.

While not exactly a console, you might want to look at the RTW surround controller. It has multiple inputs which might be helpful to you - including the ability to (optionally) decode Dolby E and Dolby AC-3 streams as well as DeMux Audio from HD-SDI streams.
