Lucid 88192

Sorry for interjecting the post-pro flow with this technical query.

Could anyone comment on the quality of the HDI/O DA over the ones in a Lucid 88192?

Hi Antonis

Seriously? If that's your worry then you are working on better stuff than virtually everyone I don't know :-).
D to A is the least of most people's worries. More issues with room acoustics and location sound than DtoA in my humble oinion

Hey Mike,

Not my worry at all. Throughout the years I have accumulated a variety of hardware. It is time for some spring cleaning hence the query. Well, any technical insight on the AD stage wouldn't go amiss. So, please do share if you have any.

FYI, I had a Tascam DS-M7.1 that I was using before I got the XMON + D-Command and the DA capability of the Tascam was far from enviable. That's one reason why a Lucid was employed.

Re: Lucid 88192

I have never mixed on Lucid DtoA sorry can't offer any news there. Just analogue SSL, NEVE, Clarec Assignable and then into AMS Logic/ DFC then Avid HD onwards converters.
Speakers in most Soho suites (Genelec 1031) or the rooms themselves were far nastier than the AtoD once Avid were beyond the Black and Tan I/o boxes.
AtoD is like mic preamps and makes only the last 1%. Fix when budget and time allow and the other elephants in the room are ejected.
Are you mixing music as well as post?

I hear you Mike.

Nice seeing you the other day btw.

The intention of this message is just to gauge which converters are better; HD I/Os or the Lucid ones. Some people are really in the know on subjects as such. Based on tech characteristics will help make a better informed decision what to flog or what to keep. For the time-being, I am very happy with the SSL MADI SX.
