Behringer ADA8000

I know that Behringer is far from "pro" quality. I have a few pieces that are either retired completely or just not used much. Compressors and things. But with some practice and tweaking they certainly are useable. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with the ADA8000 preamps. I'm finding it hard to pass up 8 preamps with digital outs and 24 bit AD/DA conversion for only $200 They may not be fantastic, but I'd be willing to bet they are better than the two on the 001. Comments, Opinions, Suggestions?

I find it rather easy to pass up, actually, I wouldn't even buy Behringer guitar picks if they made them. Save your money and get something decent, particularily in the preamp department. As you said, they may not be fantastic (which they obviously won't be), so why subject your recordings to such sub-par gear? Get a Fcousrite Octopre at the very least if you need 8 channels, or get a one or two channel in the meantime. Cheers.

My feeling is listen to it, if you like what your hear keep it if you dont... dont bother with it. The key to buying gear is not based on what Brand name is better or not (lots of folks are more impressed by what others tell them thru the years and recycle the same rhetoric) it's How does it sound to you.

Behringer...4th rate ripoff crap, cheaply made, easily broken, they have a baaaaaad reputation, well deserved.

there's a reason why it's $200, it's a piece of crap. I know someone who got 3 of them before he got one that actually worked, and I use the word wored very loosely. It didn't stay out of the box of more than about an hour, and back it went. even the crappy 001 preamps sunded better!!!!

I think their best product was the HA 4600 headphone amp...........great price for the options compared to others in its range, hehe

I'll purchase one soon for live sound with Yamaha 01V96. I'll let you know about that purpose. Might be good enough for crap like CD or talk-back mic or something....

see yaa

Actually, Punx, I've been wondering the same thing myself. For that price I could redesign the pre's and just use the converters in the ADA with a better clock. I believe they use Alesis chips for the conversion.
