Connecting Analogue Mixer to Digi002rack

Can anyone tell me how to plug my 24 channel mixer into the Digidesign 002rack?

I use stereo out of outboard mixer to channel 5-6 on OO2R. I'm a midi person. For band stuff, you need other opinions.

Depends a little on your mixer and what you want to do!

My 24 channel mixer is connected to the 002R like this:

Inputs

Mixer Ch01 - Direct out -> 002R In 1
. .
. .
Mixer Ch08 - Direct out -> 002R in 8

And if I need more channels:

Mixer Ch09 - Direct Out -> Behringer ADA8000 -> 002R ADAT In
. .
. .
Mixer Ch16 - Direct Out -> Behringer ADA8000 -> 002R ADAT In

Outputs:

002R Analog out 1 & 2 -> Mixer In Ch 23 & 24 (Main Mix)
002R Analog out 3 & 4 -> Mixer In Ch 21 & 22 (Cue Mix)

The mixer's control room out is connected to my speakers.

Maybe there is better solutions out there, but this works fine for me!

Am I correct in interpreting this to mean that you use the Mixer pre and bypass the Behringer pre?

Thanks Earl

Is it a 4bus, or 8bus?

Regardless....run your busses into inputs 5-8 if it's a 4bus, and 1-8 if it's an 8bus. That way you can route any channel from the mixer into the 002r when you want to record.

To bypass the pre's on the 002r, just turn the gain on channels 1-4 all the way off to the left. To bypass the pre's on the mixer, just turn the gain on the mixer off and jack up the gain on the 002R. You could get pre's on 5-8 for enhancement, but depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

You could also substitute the main outs for one of the busses because they may have a hotter signal...balanced vs. unbalanced..depends on the board.

I've got an MX9000 and even though it's a Behringer, it's the real deal....just have to be careful with the gain, you can get solid EQ going in and make minor tweaks in the box.

Hope this helps.
