Transfer Education License and not working

1 Attachment(s)
HI,

Yesterday, I sold my perpetual PT 12 education license through ilok manager. The ilok said transfers were allowed through the manager without having to use the form from Avid. I paid the 25$, and the guy received the ilok and activated it. Now he is now getting an error "not activated" and seems to be not recognizing the license. Also, I deactivated the PT accounts inside my Ilok. I have attached a screen shot of the new owners computer.

I can't afford to call avid and pay the $40 after I paid 25 for the transfer. Can someone please help me from Avid.

Thanks Guys!

As far as I know from Avid you can't sell an EDU license. Non transferable as it was a heavy discounted personal license. I can't say if you can sell to another student or educational person but not to a non registered student or teacher/edu.

Thats probably why it isn't working anymore.

Thanks. That makes no sense. I paid and own the license and ilok allows transfer. I also can't find anything that says it is not transferable (which is probably why ilok took my money for the transfer). and now the buy is stranded.

I will ask for you but I doubt it can be sold as secondhand. It was personal and xould not be sold to a second party before. I am not 100% that still stand but I will ask now and see what they say. Fingers crossed this is done away with during the years so you can transfer the license.

Thank you for your help!!! MUCH APPRECIATED. I just don't want the buyer to be stuck. And I can't afford to be out any money. Doesn't it seem weird that it says transfer allowed and that ilok allowed it if it wasn't?

It does seem weird, I have asked Avid now so wither they will respond here or I will as soon as I get an answer.

Re: Transfer Education License and not working

I don't see it being listed as a restriction at all here either.

http://resources.avid.com/SupportFil..._Form_2017.pdf

https://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductD...20requirements

And its not a restriction here: https://www.avid.com/academic-eligibility

So, Avid has not provided the customer with anything that says otherwise. IMO (and I will fight for it), If ilok allowed it and avid did not make me aware, they need to allow this transfer or refund me the fees that I have incurred based on their misrepresentation.

Your screenshot shows a Pro Tools Academic license, that's not for Pro Tools 12. IIRC, that's for Pro Tools 7 (it's been in our system since at least 2006). Will contact you via support case to see what we can do to help here.

P.S. You might want to remove the screenshot so the buyer's email address isn't posted to a public forum.

Found your current support case for this where the rep confirms that is the license for Pro Tools 7 (M-Powered). Please reply to your support case email as needed.
