Eleven Rack FW 1.0.3 issues forum
All,
Let's try to use this thread to track any problems or issues you're finding with the 1.0.3 Firmware Updater. I will be monitoring it off and on throughout the weekend, and can hopefully help anyone who runs into any problems. My confidence is high that nothing is lurking, but you never know... Thanks again to everyone for your continued interest and support! |

Trouble with installation
Hi,
I tried to install the new firmware from a computer running 64-bit win 7 (and another one running 64-bit Vista). I was able to click the grayed out "continue" button, as you had suggested, but when I try to install, I get the following error message in the "status" screen: The Eleven Rack update failed. Please turn your Eleven Rack off and on again and then retry this updater to make sure that valid firmare is installed. I did the off and on thing, rebootd the computer, etc. No luck. The rack is running fine, by the way, and has 1.0.2 installed currently. Any suggestions? |

Re: Eleven Rack FW 1.0.3 issues forum
Hi,
With the 1.0.3 firmware installed, I'm finding that my expression pedal works worse than it did before. I was the person who posted about having the MIDI window and/or score window open while using the wah which makes Pro Tools record past where I press stop. This problem still occurs, but now with the 1.0.3 firmware, the resolution on my pedal (a Roland EV-5) is horrible. If I'm using it as a volume pedal, for example, it starts at zero at heel position, then doesn't engage until I'm almost all the way to toe position. Basically the volume jumps from 0 to 7 immediately. The same occurs if I'm using my pedal as a wah pedal. I've tried using the new feature by setting the exp. pedal to which model I have, as well as setting it back to Normal. I've also made sure the knob on the pedal was at 0, and have calibrated it numerous times. Due to this problem, mostly concerning the stuck-recording issue, I've ended up just buying a real wah pedal to use. I don't like that I've had to do this because the whole purpose of purchasing the Eleven Rack was to not have to buy any other pedals and such. Thanks for reading. |

Hi Bender,
Not sure why you're having these difficulties. We have an EV-5 which we used for testing, and it seemed to work quite well for us. One thing you can try is setting the Pedal Type to "Reverse". This will make it work more like how it used to with version 1.02 firmware. In case you're curious, the "Normal" and "Reverse" modes refer to how the pot inside the pedal is wired up with the jack. But basically you should use which ever type works best with your pedal. |
Re: Trouble with installation
Hi,
I tried your suggestion, I think exactly as you described (on both the win 7 and vista PC's), and still get the same error message. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas? Should I just wait until the win 64-bit version comes out? |

go to Device Manager. Sound, video and Game Controllers. (click the arrow to expand view) You should see Digidesign Eleven Rack, and Digidesign Eleven Rack RT DFU. Are they present? Do you see any Exclamation Points (!) anywhere in Device Manager? If all is well in Device Manager, go to Control Panel, Programs And Features. and Look for Digidesign ElevenRack Driver 1.0.8 (x64) is that present? What version of Pro Tools do you have installed? |
Re: Eleven Rack FW 1.0.3 issues forum
Well, Vista 64 has never been supported, so I'd give up on that approach.
Beyond that, Benoni's right. Make sure the Eleven Rack drivers are installed on your machine. You can get the Windows drivers (small download) here: http://www.avid.com/US/products/Eleven-Rack/resources If that's not the issue, make sure that Pro Tools is not running when you run the updater. Make sure that no other apps are open which might be trying to stream audio through the Eleven Rack USB (check your Sound control panel if necessary and select an internal option instead of Eleven Rack). Finally, it's probably a good idea to disconnect any other audio interfaces if any are connected. Let us know how it goes...some combination of these should get you going. |
Re: Eleven Rack FW 1.0.3 issues forum
I have the EV-5 pedal and it seems to work great for me. Don't forget to set your PEDAL TYPE to EV/FV, set the gray dial button on the side of the pedal to 0, and save after calibrating. (I know, I know, you probably did all of that, but just what I did and it works great. I haven't tried it as a Volume pedal tho.)
Oh, and I haven't done any recording yet, so I can't vouch for the pedal affecting the recording. -cp |
