Pro Tools Editing Lag When Editing to Video
Hi Everyone!
Is anybody experiencing lag with the Pro Tools editing interface when editing to picture in the latest 2020.11 release? I'm on Windows 10 Pro Build 18363. It's especially bad with 59.94 720p high bitrate prores proxy files. Not as bad with 29.97 prores proxy at a lower bitrate and/or resolution, but still difficult to work with. A couple quick specs on my PC worth noting are as follows: CPU Intel Core i9 9900K MoBo Gigabyte Designaire Z390 Rev 1.0 64 GB Ram PCIE Storage 1TB HP EX950 SSD EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 1660 Black Edition Studio Driver v27.21.14.5730 Video is being output vid HDMI from a BlackMagic Intensity card Audio goes out a UA Arrow Thunderbolt interface I feel like this is related most likely to my GPU. I keep reading that Pro Tools on windows the preferred GPU of choice are nVidia Quadro GPUs although all that are specified are significantly out of date. Any suggestions on what to consider changing it out to? Any help would be appreciated! Many thanks! |

Are you using MXF container? I had this problem with MOV files in the latest releases. MXF works beautiful here.

Re: Pro Tools Editing Lag When Editing to Video
Not sure if we are seeing the same, but:
I find the GUI to be lagging. I exclusively work with video, and almost always with .mov. I found a noticable performance boost when I disabled Hyperthreading. But I still specifically the GUI to be slower than when working on much older macs. t.ex. processing Dialogue Isolate (which is a fairly heavy Audio Suite) on a clip, the process will finish faster than on older macs, and appear on the timeline, while the processing window still hangs like a second afterwards. I can then even start to play while the processing window still overhangs the edit window a little while. Other examples: Making fades and clipgaining feels sluggish. Will look into mxf! |

I'm getting a lot of gui lag when my video track is enabled as well. Disable video and editing is very snappy.

Same here..about 3 second to stop and go back to play with video engine on...
Video engine off and everything goes back to normal... I went the video slave way to be able to work...absolut shame...that cost me 15$ a month.. Feel like a joke comming from a video editing company.. Not a funny one though... Envoyé de mon SM-G960F en utilisant Tapatalk |

https://audiospot.audio/audiospot-creativetools The tool is called DNxER. It has the option to transcode both to MOV and MXF. Unfortunately they will cease to provide them for free in january. The difference between mov and mxf is night and day, you shoud try it. |
