dumb question: insert memory location during playback?
Is there a way to drop a marker and name it during playback and have it stick at a precise location? My current workflow is:
here comes the chorus...and.....ENTER! Dialog box comes up Rename marker to "chorus" Hit return to clear the dialog (or enter again--I don't remember) Find the marker is now inserted 10 seconds past the chorus Reach for it as it is scrolling out of view and whooops, it's gone Stop the transport Drag the marker back where I wanted it Start the transport again, repeat. |

Bug. Somebody just posted about it on Ideascale, too. Maybe you. As soon as it gets logged there as a bug, I'll vote for it to be fixed and post the link here. I hope it doesn't happen to me on the new Mac systems we're getting soon or I'll be fit to be tied.

My Mac 7.3 system drops the marker at the place where I hit Enter whether I have Insertion Follows Playback checked or not.

If you turn on Auto-name Memory Locations in the menu of the Memory Location window or in the editing preferences you'll get the functionality you're searching for. Instant markers without having to type a name.
It works fine here. |

Well, you pretty much know what's going to happen at some point.
Why not just get the marker ready, and when the chorus hits, hit ok. Then prep the next one while the chorus is going and drop it when you hit that section. |
