is there a digital only i/o interface compatable with digi interface connections?
 

is there an interface that can be connected to the digi cards and provides nothing but 8 digital i/o. no converters, just a way to get in and out digitally, or with a converter of choice. the adat bridge can do this via light pipe plus something to adapt to spif, but i was hoping there might be something more simple and cheaper. even just sdif i/o's only. FC727 (Euphonix)

The Euphonix one is all digital, but somehow I get the feeling it doesn't exactly meet your needs....... See below:

so i guess my best bet is to find an adat bridge used and cheap. then i'll need something to go from light pipe to sdif i/o. or, maybe they have something around the corner, like the 1622, only digital....
