I am getting a hard crash by Izotope RX8 on install when plugins are being scanned loaded. Prefs have been trashed before install.

This is probably the enduring problem of Pro Tools not being able to cope with re-scanning a large quantity of plugins in one hit. Try moving half of the plugins into the "Plug-Ins (Unused)" folder, starting up Pro Tools and let it finish scanning/loading then quit Pro Tools, restore the other half of your plugins to the "Plug-Ins" folder, then start Pro Tools again.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks Pete!

I actually had about 175 moved out of the folder already when I first loaded 2020.12. It would still crash. So I removed all Izotope plugins and then it worked. I then moved the 175 in an did another load and it worked again. I then added the Izotope plugins in the folder and it finally loaded the Izotope plugins.

This has been an issue for quite some time now. I really wish they would fix this!

Had the same hang on startup issue after installing RX8 (along with other Izotope updates). I uninstalled RX8, and PTs launched. RE-installed RX8 and PTs launched fine. Kind of a head-scratcher, but everything is working.

Downloaded and opened without a problem. 👍

Still presents the warning about the QuickTime Beta status. So I guess, full QuickTime support will be a Pro Tools 2021 release thing.
