PTLE 7 = 48 voices petition

Dear Digidesign,

Please provide more voices in the Pro Tools LE 7 release. Other software/hardware at comparative (& often much cheaper) prices provide far greater than 32 voices (audio tracks).

We, as united customers do not think this is an unfair or unrealistic expectation for the next LE ver. Even if you were to offer more tracks as a bundle option etc, many would pay.

We do not think this will adversely affect PT HD sales what-so-ever & in fact will probably boost overall sales (across your products), since many customers that you are losing to Logic & Digital Performer will come back (because - you're the best).

Please hear our voice & give us more voices.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Phil Jeffers

Pro Tools user for 8 years

P.S. I have already submitted a feature request submission.

Simply well said. I second the motion... Just don't forget us M-Powered users as well.

Agree with the above. Don't see why we should be paying more though... If all other software offers more less, why would be pay more?

Just give us the extra tracks and let us worry whether our computers can handle it.

Thanks!

48 tracks would be nice, but I'd rather have automatic latency delay for plugins(especially PoCo, UAD) and more than 16 buses would really be usefull.

So let me get this straight. You are submitting a petition asking Digi to make changes to a product that they release on October 7th?

Perhaps a reality check on the complexities of software development may not go amiss!

Re: PTLE 7 = 48 voices petition

Hello. DAP stands for Distributed Audio Processing (unless it's one of the other acronyms I listed in the other Pro Tools 7 thread dealing with more voices). It's Apple's way of using all processors (computers) in a network to run the CPU needs of a session. So far only Logic supports this that I know of. However A2D D2A, this will not help LE users get more audio tracks, it will just allow them to have more processing for plug ins, samplers, etc within that 32 track limit. So while it may be helpful it doesn't address their audio track concern.

Also, I have to ask again, how are you coming about this information? Are you violating an NDA in the process?

8 years using LE? Perhaps it's time to take the next step in your career.

Consider this: digi is a Hardware manufacturer, but what you really buy when you acquire PT is the name, the reputation, the support and the appearance of professionalism to your clients, in addition to the great software, interfaces and accessories.

It seems to me that you are one of the few caught at the edge of the LE envelope. If editing and mixing are your bread and butter, you should have the horsepower with a lender to finance yourself into an entry-level to modest HD rig. From your profile, you've got an acceptable computer platform and a control surface, it's just the interface/software you've got to change. Consider using digi's Hardware Upgrade options when reworking your business plan...hell, digi might even finance you themselves!!!
