Mbox 3 Pro and the 003 Controller.

Is there a way to use the Mbox 3 Pro and the 003 Controller Console. Together?

Using the Mbox 3 Pro as the interface and the 003 Console as a controller bypassing its input and output features?

Thanks.

Sadly the answer is no. I have been asking(for a year now) for a firmware update for the 003 that would give it a controller-only mode, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears(or maybe it can't be done). In any case, you best bet would be to sell the 003 and grab an Artist Mix for basic control. I've seen them used for around a grand(sell the 003 for $650 or so and its not too bad a bite on the old wallet).:o

You could however use the 003 as the interface with the mbox acting as a standalone AD/DA converter. Only 2 in 2 out though. Maybe track through the mbox and mix down with the 003 with mbox DA.

I've heard nice things about the MBox audio. If it has SPDIF you could connect it that way.

Could you explain this in more detail please?

I am trying to get my head around this.

Page 29 and 30 of the manual talk explain it. You can read it here:

Thanks. I am expecting the new gear this week.

Will be better for me to revisit this when I have things in hand to help me get my head around it.

It appears that there could be some type of set up I could configure here.

Can some reply as to how I should have this setup?

I have read the manual.

But have questions with how the firewire of the 003 and the Mbox should be connected.

Basically how should go about this whole thing.

Re: Mbox 3 Pro and the 003 Controller.

After setting up the Mbox Pro for standalone mode, as directed in the manual, you then disconnect it from the computer. You're not using them both as interfaces, it can't be done.
